Important post see below Re: rx_usa more by: Mr_Burns_On_Acid 20216 of 20375 > How do you evaluate Net2Phone, Click2talk, etc and EZsurf? > Both in terms of their quality and market potential. > If you can provide some crude calculations I would > most appreciate it. Are you satisfied with their quality? > If not, what improvements do you think are needed? I don't know what calculations would be useful. I believe in the future of VOIP. Lucent and Cisco are currently waging a multibillion dollar battle. And it's not because Lucent thinks Cisco is building the next generation circuit switch (A #6, I guess). It's over VOIP and the infrastructure devoted to it. I think Net2Phone is a good, general implementation of VOIP as a technology and a service. As a service, IDT's Net2Phone service is years ahead of anyone - simply out of experience. As a technology, Net2Phone has been undergoing technical refinement for a couple of years. There is strong and simple value that comes from that. Click2Talk is the glue that ties Net2Phone to the Web. Every appearance of Click2Talk is advertising for Net2Phone and an incentive for a user to install and use Net2Phone. That is a win for IDT. The larger the installed base of Net2Phone users, the better. That is why the bundling deals with the Packard Bells, IBMs, and Creative Labs are so valuable. EZSurf caught me off guard. I did not see it coming. Did yagottabelieve really come up with the idea? EZSurf is clever and will put Net2Phone in front of more people. It will also start putting Net2Phone in front of more e-tailers. Eventually Click2Talk, Click2Mail, and Click2CallMe could become standard elements on all business web sites. What I really like about EZSurf is the anticipation of what's next. EZSurf is a statement that IDT is now looking at how to extend VOIP into new applications and uses. It is a statement that IDT has built and matured the simple VOIP business of delivering phone calls - a crucial first step - and is moving into new areas. More to follow....
