PSN and Software. Clipped this from the "Big Brother" site. According to Intel VP Patrick Gelsinger, many software developers are already planning to use the PSN and would be *likely to require that the patch be removed:* "We're very happy and actually rather surprised by the amount of enthusiasm we've gotten from application developers for the processor serial number capability. We have some 30-plus applications today that have committed to take advantage of this. And that number is rising very rapidly." Let's see, I need to run that application, better turn on the ID. Now I'm going on-line, time to re-boot. (Darn, I wanted to run the Ap in the background). Can someone give me an example of why the consumer would run out and buy a PIII because the software is hooked to the serial number?
