Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point but I disagree with the above. Your last statement would seem to imply that 50% of a company's shares are held long and the other 50% are shorted. Stocks decline not just due to shorts but when people who are long want to sell and there are not enough buyers at that level. Simple supply and demand.

I agree with the above, transaction costs are much lower with position trading and if one is disciplined you can do quite well. I've bounced from full time postion trading to day trading and am now back position trading with just a few occasional day trades. Less stress for me.
