Jeff:
No question that it IS similar to casino gambling, but if you look at the way other IPO spin-off parents' stock price has behaved prior to the IPO date, there appear to be one or more good bets one could place prior to the offering, depending on the timing of filing and offering, with pretty favorable odds. If you want to compare this to DELL or something, you may as well forget it. You only want to do this with your play money (i.e. money you wouldn't mind too much if you lost a chunk of it, which will happen sometimes).

You are well named, Mr. BASH....I don't see any reason why anyone on this thread should explain anything to you...If you are so convinced that this stock is going nowhere, don't buy it...Short it...

Jeffery,
I am apologizing to you for my previous post to you regarding NAVR...I erroneously assumed you were a short seller trying to bash NAVR at a very critical preIPO stage...I see by your profile that you are a careful, prudent investor who is sincerely trying to get answers on the wisdom of investing in NAVR...NAVR right now is at a very volatile stage, and many of us who are long are expecting it will be volatile upward into the 40s and 50s (short term)....Those who are still short are hoping it will be volatile downward (back to the 8 - 10 level)...This stock is internet related...It is not a DELL or MSFT...The risk here is greater at this time...You may want to revisit NAVR after the IPO has been in place a month or so, and the long term effect can be measured...My feeling is that NAVR will not descend again to the 8 - 10 price levels again..It may settle in the 20s, 30s, 0r 40s...If it gets bought you could see 50s or higher...Good luck in your investing...

I hate to say it....But anyone that begins there first post to a thread and adresses it the way you did is pompous as hell. The same goes for those who end their posts with "in my humble opinion", they are NEVER humble. I'm sorry if I skipped over a couple of news clippings of you and Warren Buffet closing a big merger or something, but I'm sure you'll let us know.

Only an observation into your character........

As for the IPO being priced into the stock already? I'm honestly not sure.....But I will have traded this thing back and fourth 10 times while your still covering your short.

F~

Jeffrey,

Read the whole thread...your question has been discussed a number of times. Then look at MALL and DBCC prior to their spinoff IPOs.
