CAS2 maybe, on CAS3 memory (or are you running 66mhz memory

Actually the other way around. I have CAS2 PC100 Mushkin/Samsung memory at CAS3 speed. Should I change it to CAS2?

More likely, though, you need to up the voltage a trifle. Have you tried 2.1v?

No but the problem occurs at 300/66 and 2.0 volts. I usually undo the overclock when installing and experimenting.

1) my daughter's (now dead) pc, an AMD 100mhz 486 clone. Would only boot Win 95 the way you say - step through the boot confirming each entry.

The machine boots normally when turned on. It also boots normally with a shut down and restart. So far the problem is only when I change a video setting and it wants to reboot.

Win 98/Fat32 can handle a 17gig partition? Or did I misunderstand.

Yes it can. I just tried it. I had a Win98 6 gig FAT 32 partition with the rest free space. I just resized to 10 gig and she still works. Explorer shows 10 gig. I left some free space for now..still deciding what to do. There is a message as you pass the 1024 cyl (8.4 gig) mark warning the drive may not boot. I took the chance and it did. No lockups during the boot process with Partition Magic..I was crossing my fingers.

My original problems were with Partition Magic Ver 3.0. As Dave pointed out 3.0 does not support 8.4 + gig. I upgraded to 4.0 and was able to format a full 17 using Partition Magic in Win95.
