>> year 2k problem was over...I feel better, now! >>OT<<

And did you mistakenly type "was" ?

Frankly, I think the media is under "painting" it. And I'm interested to know what sources you draw upon to feel confident the issue is "overblown". Please point me to the conclusive URL that told you and the world: "Y2K - No Sweat!". All I have to do is go to hotbot.com and search on "Y2K"...it ain't pretty!

Of course, this debate belongs in another thread, but do you really think everyone is prepared? Think about the Asia-Pac rim - power plants, mass transportation, cell phone grids, satellites over 5 years old, European/Latin American financial institutions, etc. Every IC chip will rollover "just fine", eh?

A few scenarios...

(a) If I were on the board of big bank "XYZ", do you think I'd tell you (or anyone, for that matter) if we were suffering from Y2K problems? What kind of liability would I invite?

(b) Go to your bank(s) tomorrow and ask for information on their Y2K remediation efforts (or any public Y2K disclosures, for that matter). If you're lucky they might have a very general web-site discussing their "progress". For that matter, call up your power company, 911, and telcomm provider, too.

Keep me posted on your progress, as well...

Regards,
Scrumpy
