Sage makes a nice rod from what I've seen in the ads. There isn't much fly fishing where I live so a fine fly rod would be a waste for me. I haven't done much rod building but I have done some rod repair. Back in the days when the guides were softer I used to put on a new set every few years. Never did enough to get the right tools, used a stack of books to tension the thread. Wooden handles with ivory must be pretty. I bet you take much better care of your equipment than most anglers.
