More Than One Million People Registered At www.onsale.com

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 2, 1999--Onsale(R) Inc. (Nasdaq: ONSL), a leading Internet real-time retailer, today reported that more than one million people have registered to bid or buy on its web site at www.onsale.com.

Onsale recently expanded its services to offer a broad range of new computer products with Onsale atCost(TM), complementing its original offering of excess goods with Onsale atAuction(TM). Onsale atCost lets customers purchase new computer products at today's wholesale prices plus a "transaction fee," rather than the common retail markup. Onsale atAuction gives customers the opportunity to bid at auction on a range of excess and closeout computer products, consumer electronics, sporting goods and vacation packages.

"Exceeding one million registrants demonstrates Onsale's appeal to consumer and business shoppers," said Jerry Kaplan, Onsale's president and CEO. "Hundreds of thousands of people come to our site regularly to check out the great deals and low prices we offer on new and excess merchandise everyday."

Onsale's customer base has been growing by 18 percent or more each quarter. Repeat customers currently account for 77 percent of all purchases. Onsale's average customer spends $750 over a twelve month period, while the top 10 percent spend over $4,000 a year, and the top 1 percent spend over $15,000. Onsale's site attracted 139,000 unique visitors a day during the fourth quarter and served more than 1,200,000 page views per day.
