The Vixel 8100 will be available starting in April with a suggested list price of $8,495.00.

15% cheaper than the MkII-8 - does look like the pressure is on price-wise... who's got the healthier margins? And know how the switches compare on the technical side?

Share price off this morning in reaction... to buy or not to buy here, that is the question (as ever).

Regarding the Vixel announcement. . .does this tell us anything about how much lead time is required to develop a competitive switch?

What has been disclosed publicly by way of Vixel signing of OEM agreements, i.e., just who are Vixels' "strategic OEM and distribution partners" touted in the press release?

Does anyone else think it is quite odd to announce that the Vixel 8100 "is currently being evaluated by early customers" because "evaluation" appears to contradict the concept of "customer." Does this announcement reflect a desparate attempt to get back into a market which has moved away from Vixel, whether as a result of product line reach or price, or am I reading too much into the press release?

This announcement also raises the age-old question about margins, whlie confirming that Ancor seems to have sensed what the market was looking for and got to the goal first when it released the MKII -- which has to be viewed as a strong plus for our company, if only because Vixel cannot deliver until April (I wonder what is up with that, if not related to the above observation?).

Is there anything in the product specs that gives Ancor a new goal to reach, other than listed price at retail?
