My understanding of Dell's storage products is that they are acting as a reseller so i don't think their manufacturing efficiencies benefit them in this arena.

Dear Richard: We have discussed that issue in the past on this thread. My comment is that historically DELL does NOT spend much on R&D, thus accounting for their good profit margins. They will not make any serious inroads, in my judgement, in this field without implementing a major R&D program. Its not the Hardware that makes EMC great--anyone could go out and buy that--its the software that ties it all together, the sales organization that knows how to present the product and to whom, and finally the Service organization that is know to be TOTALLY reliable under even the worst of conditions.
