The edit has no effect until the order is confirmed to be executed or not

After thinking about this some more, I agree with you - each edit should not generate a separate transaction. If you change an order you should understand (and I think you do) that the original price might have already been filled by the marketmaker, but not reported back to your broker. That should only be one transaction, however.

Since you were not using E*Trade, I suggest you post your message to the Suretrade thread, if you have not already, but more importantly get someone on the phone from Suretrade ASAP.
