I will still buy Windows and Office97 (or 2000). This is why MSFT is my number 1 holding as I think there are a lot of people like me.

When CSCO considers their business decisions, I bet pricing is a big consideration just like it is for Intel. However, Intel has brainwashed us with the "intel inside" whereas Cisco has not. If Lucent and Nortel will build better products, they can overtake (unlikely but certainly a possibility).
At the present time, Cisco is like Intel but still does not have the
recognition as Intel does. Cisco and Intel both need to protect their business with price cuts or product innovations. My feeling is that the more a product is further away from the end user, the less dominance the maker of the product will have.(chips and routers). That is, the buyer will be less discriminating. However as MSFT products directly "connect" to the end user, their software will be the software of choice even if another company offers cheaper software that more or less does the same thing (even if cheaper). MSFT has it locked up in many categories..

In any case I am long on Cisco Dell and Intel (in that order). Of course, I am very long on MSFT with shares and options.
