140M is the TOTAL of all copper telephone lines in the US. If there are 140M xDSL lines, we'd be all surfin' the Net at a gazillion bytes a second! Your friend bill may be talking on a completely different level altogether?

Gary,

>>. I know they are the one that mention ALA as the market leader for DSLAM shipments. Two problems. Most of these shipments aren't revenue producing... Heck, I think Microsoft has 4 on their campus alone. <<

You don't even understand this. Microsoft is working with GTE, which selected Fujitsu/Orctf. I've already told you that GTE selected the Orctf/Fujitsu equipment, based on frame.

I think you are starting to understand that Alcatel is willing to lose MILLIONS to gain market share in North America. They are willing to give it away, low ball, forward price to win the RFP. USWest is going to have a DMT DSLAM RFP, expect Alcatel to continue their forward pricing. Cisco will not compete on price.... period. I've already told you why, Alcatel manufactures their own silicon.

>> Please don't refer me to the Ryan Hankin Kent report as a basis for lines installed. <<

Provide me with a report that claims that Cisco is the leader.

>> They believe that the market for VoIP will be between $28M and 202M by 2002. Talk about losing credibility. Gee, I'll bet everything I own that VoIP sales exceed $202M this year. Anyone? <<

If ADSL chip set manufacturing doesn't have anything to do with ADSL, why are we talking about VoIP?
