Allow me to take a shot on this question

"My question for you is what exactly does ATHM bring to the party; "

IMO ATHM brings excite a guaranteed viewership in the not so distant future. If the future of the internet is broadband (and i've put my money there, so i believe it is) and cable is clearly the broadband leader, would you not like every home signed up with ATHM to log on and see EXCITE @HOME as their startup page? And ask anyone at AOL, if you sign up with @HOME, you MUST deal with EXCITE@HOME.

If this deal does not go through (and i believe it will) ATHM will find some one else to provide content (LYCOS perhaps)

As ATHM's subscriptions grow (and grow exponentially) so will EXCITE's viewership. IMHO ATHM will meet AOL in subscriptions in time.

The alternative for EXCITE is to be strictly a portal for the techno laggers.
