The new 'Political Correctness' and the GOP

Pity poor Trent Lott.

Watching his daily appearences on TV, he looks like a man trapped in an
airtight room with the water level rising. Well aware that he will not find 67
votes to convict the president, he also knows 65 percent of the public wants
the trial over last week. Perhaps, however, he is most aware that other polls
show the public's faith in the Republican party plummeting, and that while the
president crisscrosses the land announcing new programs and seizing the
policy agenda, more and more people are seeing his party as the party of
impeachment and that alone.
