Larry:

"so CD, has completed most of its stock buyback, interesting. they've been buying between 16 and 20/share - good price."

$950 mil divided by 48 mil shares bought is $19.79.

"now we'll have to see how the stock acts without the support."

That's exactly what I am wondering.

Now we'll have to see how the stock acts without the support.

It's going to act just fine. Wasn't that long ago that it was at $6.50 and seems it's done pretty well since then. No reason why it won't go back to $41, probably by no later than this summer. This company is one big, very big, cash cow. Institutions pick up this thing a hundred thousand shares or more at a time. They'll be back in force before long.

A contrarian would still consider CD a great buy at these prices -- and no doubt many will act on it.

Larry, you wrote ...

"so CD, has completed most of its stock buyback, interesting ... now we'll have to see how the stock acts without the support."

Are you suggesting it has been solely the stock buyback which has provided support? I understood the buyback to have commenced at the beginning of the 4Q, on or around Oct 1, 1998? That gives us a 3-4 month window of opportunity. With Cendant trading on average 5-6 million shares per day during that period, I'd say there is plenty of other support out there.

Good Luck everyone, JL
