Without being specific, I think a number of companies have been working on software solutions for DVD. I'm not exactly sure how the technology for this product differs from some of the software-based MPEG compression/decompression schemes. If they are related, it would seem that there are a number of potential competitors: e.g. Real Networks, etc.

I read something about ATI offering software-based DVD support with its new video cards. Given the close relationship between MGI and ATI, it could mean that MGI is providing the technology. In any event, the market seems promising assuming the potential volumes make up for the low licensing fees.
