E-Trade is just experiencing the same problems that AOL did a few years ago. That is not all that bad, as the best problem in the world is tremendous growth.

Stock is down only $1 1/2 on bad news.

Personally I wish it would drop more so I could add to my position.

In spite of the problems internet trading is here to stay and only getting bigger. We will probably see $100 again this year IMO.

All online brokerages have their problems, to me it is better to stay with one that almost has theirs fixed as to run to a small one just ready to experience the same ones. Just ask the ISP's.

*** ETRASH: THE BILL CLINTON OF ONLINE BROKERS ***

Keep in mind, this is now Bill Clinton's America

Where parsing of words, lying, misleading, and coverup is commonplace and the way you conduct yourself.

ETrash is and always has been the Bill Klintoon of online brokers.

...from CBS MarketWatch
Last Update: 1:27 PM ET Feb 3, 1999

PALO ALTO, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- E-Trade on Wednesday confirmed that some of its 676,000 active customer accounts couldn't trade and that it expected to fix the problem by early afternoon.

E-Trade (EGRP) representative David Murray told CBS.MarketWatch.com that its customers "have been unable to access the trading function on our Web site."

He said it's the first time E-Trade has experienced the problem in its seven-year history and that the company's technical staff has been working to correct the problem.

E-Trade shares fell 2 1/4 to 56 by midday on Wednesday. E-Trade posted a notice on its Web site requesting members make trades by calling in and placing orders through the company's service personnel.

Murray said the problem started at about 11 a.m. Eastern time. "We expect to have it up within the next few minutes," he said at about 12:20 p.m. "They've been working feverishly on it."

Emphasis added.
