Kaiser says Winspear results need context
Winspear Resources Ltd WSP
Shares issued 33,721,333 1999-02-03 close $2.72
Wednesday Feb 3 1999
John Kaiser, writing in a Feb. 1, 1999 Bottom-Fish Tracker, notes the market reacted negatively to caustic-fusion results from the Snap Lake diamond property of Winspear Resources on Jan. 26. The analytical letter writer soothes investors by looking at the positives, saying the results indicate "excellent stone size distribution" at the micro-diamond end of the size-frequency distribution curve. Mr. Kaiser has been a strong supporter of the company, recommending the stock at least seven times, from a high of $3.16 in February 1997 to a low of 46 cents in June 1998. While criticizing "that market segment which understands nothing about diamond exploration," Mr. Kaiser says the results show a remarkable consistency for micro-diamond content in the northwest peninsula dyke. The next opportunity to get meaningful information about big stones will be in reporting its 6,000-tonne bulk-sample results, Mr. Kaiser states. He says July is the most likely time these results will be released and warns that Europe's diamantaires are notorious for taking four-week vacations in August.

I note that Kaiser is now stating that there is "excellent stone size distribution" and "the results show a remarkable consistency for micro-diamond content in the northwest peninsula dyke".

Perhaps he is not so put out by the high percentage of value attributed to the larger diamonds.
