EC,

Sudbury Basin was caused by an asteriod! The deposit is recognized as a unique style of magmatic sulfides, that being "astrobleme-associated". It is proposed that the impact caused deep crustal fractures that facilitated magmatism. There are several styles of mineralization there i.e. footwall (Victor, Victor Deep), off-set (Copper-Cliff, Copper-Cliff South), embayment (Whistle) etc. All located around the edge of the impact zone. The breccia zone is thought to have been created by the "shock-waves" passing from the impact through several layers of strata but only affecting certain layers of specific densities/rock properties! Cool concept!

Most of the deposits to the south and east of Lac Rocher are VMS while far to the north are komat's (e.g. Raglan). There are several terrane boundaries in the area just south of Lac Rocher. The geology map they show on their site is the cover of a geological report (Quebec survey). There are actually much more detailed geological maps inside. They show gabbros/norites and later granite dykes etc. with minor sediments and mafic flows to the north (20-30km) of the target area.
