Don't ever re-enter an order unless you receive a confirmation that your previous order has been canceled.

Hi there.

This is quite interesting to read. I was running into similar problems with Webstreet the last couples of weeks. I placed an order to sell half of my position of a stock.

I got an error message saýing the system couldn't receive my order and that I should try it again. I did and the same message appeared. I tried it a third time and the order went through. THe next day I had to find out that I sold 3/2 of my stock, meaning more than I had. Further I had loads of troubles with incorrect balances and loads of troubles to convince the very unfriendly cs. SOmetimes I even had about 10% less money than it should have in my cash account!

Through best ratings with gomez advisors I was just sending my account application to e-trade. May be every day trade interested should have 2 accounts with different brokers.

<<Normally, if the prior order was executed the cancellation request would be rejected. >>

No that is not true. With E-trade, you can never be certain whether the previous order has been cancelled until you get their confirmation because their system is sooooo slow. I never place a second order before I get the confirmation for the cancelled order. Otherwise you put yourself at risk.
