The Dialog Corporation Brings Superior Search and Retrieval Tools to CompuServe Germany
German CompuServe Web Customers Benefit From Fast Access to Key News and Business Information From Datastar Databases
LONDON, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dialog Corporation (www.dialog.com; Nasdaq: DIALY; LSE: DLG) and CompuServe Interactive Services Deutschland GmbH & Co KG, a joint venture of Bertelsmann Inc. (www.bertelsmann.de) and America Online Inc. (www.aol.com; NYSE: AOL - news), today launched an enhanced Internet- based business information service for CompuServe Web customers in Germany.
Recent technological developments made at the DataStar(SM) data centre in Bern have enabled The Dialog Corporation to provide CompuServe Germany with a faster and more user-friendly interface to its CompuServe Web service.
Users now have the option of performing two types of search, depending on the depth of information required and the experience of the searcher. Easy Search is ideal for simple free-text search queries and works like most search engines on the Internet. The Advanced Search option lets users explore different combinations of search terms and combine search sets.
In addition, CompuServe users can access DataStar-sourced information much more quickly than before. The steps required to carry out a search have been streamlined, so the user drills through fewer screens to obtain the information they need.
DataStar, The Dialog Corporation's premier European online resource for reliable, up-to-date business and technical information, has been supplying CompuServe's German Internet-based service with customised news and business information since 1994. CompuServe now has over 250,000 customers, more than 600,000 users, in the German-speaking countries accessing its pay-as-you-go information service via the Internet.
DataStar sources supplied to CompuServe Web include Dun & Bradstreet Europe, Creditreform, Infocheck German and European Market Statistics, as well as leading European newspapers such as:
-- Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
-- Blick durch die Wirtschaft
-- Il Sole 24 Ore
-- Le Monde
-- Sueddeutsche Zeitung
-- Aerzte Zeitung
''Our aim is to ensure that users worldwide can access the information they need through the interface and service of their choice,'' said Ciaran Morton, President, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia at The Dialog Corporation.
