How does a shorter maintain margins in a rising market?

Just curious. Based on a post from another board.
What is it costing shorts to maintain margin balances
on a position that is frozen (like TRBD)?

Here's a snapshot of Asensio's recommendations in
the last couple of years. Looks like he got Crystallex
(KRY) right, but is feeling pain from recent gains from
Able, Biotime, Coinmach, & Chromatic Color. I wouldn't
be surprised but that the TRBD freeze is forcing buy-ins on
some of the other positions.

AVNT 8/97 30 ? 17.5 up
ZONA 11/97 33 5 32 up

WDRY 2/98 25 <5 15 up
KRY 3/98 7.75 0? 0.5 up
ABTE 7/98 15 <2 10 up
TRBD 8/98 15 <1 5 halted
HEB 9/98 8 <1 6 down

How long have Asensio's clients been shorting (buying in)
before the public "strong sell" recommendation?

I know you shorters think us longs are stupid...let us
in on these margin mechanics if you would please?
