I recommend reading this thread thoroughly from 7/1/98 only. This thread represents the free market in opinion about the company. A free market has a way of figuring out information, facts, before they even exist. Because of this the thread is ahead of the company and has a more concrete view as to what the company should be doing. Manager's judgement is distorted by the nearness of the inside. They can't step outside of their skins to get an objective view. Recently, the thread experienced a bout of exuberance, price discussion, elation over get-rich, proofs of the superiority of DSL, the absorption of Road-Runner, and endless other air head prattle. Now, the hubris is muted. Wonder why? That kind of public behavior even exists in this balanced thread and should warn you that trouble is brewing. Everyone is watching, and watching, and watching... What the Fool has to say is the public enthusiasm of "you got ta get 'em while they're hot", so their assessment of the fundamentals is backward looking. If you want to read something that indicates "the end is near, prepare to meet thy god", read the BusinessWeek article recently referred to here. With that kind of superficial exposure the bears start growling. When it is time to buy ATHM, you won't be in any such mood to do so.
