Be very careful Howard, when expiry gets within two weeks, actually 3 weeks. I don't think anyone can call it that close.

But I think something was going on with the DOW lately, 'cause it is the number that will be splashed on all the headlines this weekend.

Regards, Ice

U.S. to track Net sales data

Commerce Dept. to separate online sales from
overall retail figures

February 5, 1999: 1:53 p.m. ET

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - The Commerce Department said
Friday it will begin publishing online sales figures as a
result of the impact electronic commerce has had on the
nation's economy.
The move marks a significant shift in calculating
retail sales. Until now, the Commerce Department has
included online shopping figures with catalog sales in its
overall retail sales numbers.
"These Internet sales are not separated out and now
we will ask for a separate e-commerce number,"
Commerce Secretary William Daley said. "It's an
acknowledgment that this is worthy of separating out
from just general catalog sales numbers. [The Internet]
has changed the buying patterns of people and we think it
would be a wise thing to do."
Daley said online shopping numbers for 1998 and
1999 will be available in mid-2000.
Consumers spent $9 billion online in 1998, and
e-commerce is expected to be a $30-billion business in
2000, Daley said.
