hi laura,

welcome to the thread. glad you've found some helpful posts already.

i have a cable modem. i installed the ethernet card and the cable modem, both of which were provided by the cm company. strange as this may sound, i don't know who made the card. the cm company gave it to me and i stuck it in the case. :) the cable modem is made by hybrid networks. they both work nearly flawlessly. they also gave me an analog modem made by best data. (jeez, who are these manufacturers?) :)

i'd like to suggest that you trip on over to the dream machine thread, #subject-18946, an ask them about ethernet cards and cable modems. those guys are in, shall we say, the high rent district over there. where we sometimes wonder which button to click or what software to download, they build their own puters. then, if they have too many sitting around the house that appear to be fully assembled and operational, they take one or two of them apart :) they will certainly provide you with their insights.

keep posting here with us, and let us know what you decide and discover!

regards,

mark

this is a useful site for cable modems. i don't know if they mention specific brands, though.

cablemodeminfo.com

the cable modem basics link has lots of additional sites to visit.

Don't forget to go to the mouse makers website and look there for a more recent driver to download.
