In a related matter, the board of directors of the company took action at its January 28 board meeting to rescind the company's on-going share repurchase program. The company announced that future share reacquisitions will be at a reduced level so as to not affect the accounting for mergers.

This is all I could find. Not much help is it ??
When I read this on 1-28, I was hoping it was presaging a stock split.
Looks like it was their way of telling us they wouldn't support
the stock at 51 anymore.
They did acquire the Marshall, Ill bank for stock. That happened
on 2-5-99.
Looks like they may have timed this thing to get the Marshall bank
on the cheap.
They wouldn't do that, would they ??
