[Interop.]

Dr., is WSTL driving interop. so much so that they will be able to ship in volume with TXN and MOT in the future with "strategic partnership" pricing?? We have heard nothing from TXN and their chips should be way overdue. I was avid AMTX follower and had much respect for their IP. I would think TXN will have killer product.

Dr. Tech,

3COM has interoperability agreements with Alcatel and Lucent. Alcatel won the JPC and BC contracts, who is going to supply those ATU-R modems? Who shipped the 10,000 ATU-R modems to Singapore, another Alcatel contract? Alcatel has been working with other ATU-R vendors well before BEL told them to work with Westell.

I agree that BEL may want Westell initially, but just like the BC and BEL "CAP" contracts, it's that word "initial" that is the problem. I was under the impression Westell could compete against Alcatel, I was wrong. I do not believe they will compete effectively against 3COM in the ATU-R business.

Dr...Still VERY concerned over a few (MANY) of your recent statements...

< Just remember it is always the customer(BEL) who calls the shots and BEL will never make anybody exclusive even if the PR says so>

Does this mean that BEL's DMT PR is going to make ALA exclusive and not include WSTL but we are to ASSume that WSTL will get it's fair share?

<WE know BEL liked WSTL CAP but this will say alot for WSTL DMT>

Key word is "LIKED"...That means past tense? How the hell does that say ANYTHING (much less "A LOT") for WSTL's DMT when they LOST the DMT DSLAM to ALA?

Feb 5 <They will win their fair share of SLC-2000 business and 5ess> But I heard WSTL is NOT...I REPEAT NOT making any real (if any) $ from LU deal????????

Feb 3 <WSTL will get their share of DSLAM orders, BT includes DSLAMs both CAP & DMT, thru LU & FUJ they will make money in the COs>

We are pathetically down to HOPING , PREYING that BT doesn't do what they have already done once before and what the JPC did, BC and now BEL...THAT IS CHOOSE ALA's DSLAM OVER WSTL!...I would have to Guess that BT will choose ALA's DSLAM over WSTL for long-term deployment! Still want to know WHEN WSTL is going to be making $ from LU deal???

Tell me one more time why there are NO analysts covering WSTL and more importantly WHY THEY SHOULD BE??? Seems to me they are the geniuses as WSTL loses another DSLAM contract (BEL) that was supposedly a LOCK...Remember BEL makes the decisions right? Seems they decided to go with ALA!

How's everything going with the TAP side of things??? ESpecially AMeritech?????

Dr...<Which means down the road their might be other ADSL modems suppliers, just like LU will win some of BEL CO business from ALA.>

DOWN THE ROAD (in time) LU WILL BE IN DIRECT COMPETITION WITH WSTL (confirmed by MZ)...LU will have their own solution WITHOUT WSTL...So how does that benefit WSTL? Unless you think WSTL will win back BEL DMT DSLAM down the road...which i really hope you don't believe that fantasy!

dr. tech and all---

thanks for the post.

so, basically, the answer to bills question is yes?

one other thing...none of this matters. have you stopped to ask yourself why you have been so consistently wrong on the stock price, yet correct on the reporting?

good luck to all,
trey

[saying a lot]

"but this will say alot for WSTL DMT"
Dr. Tech

From ski's conversations with John Grady, it sounds like BEL is saying "thank you Westell for letting us bend you, your wet behind the ears mgmnt., and your shareholders over for the last year. We will go completely with ALA, thank you. Of course that is until 3com et al. start producing in volume for the masses. Maybe the Penneys should stay in retail where they belong."

Are you waiting to speak out on this until BEL announces the bad news and phantom financing dissolves?? I can't wait to read that fiction!

DR.TECH,
The original reason I invested in Westell had to do with TI/Amati. Westell had a special relationship with them and I believed they would get a good share of the business through this dynamic TI/Amati implementation. Now it is 1 1/2 years later and where is TI/Amati, or Motorola for that matter. As you said "the clock is ticking". The talk now is about how Westell is going to coordinate with Alcatel.

HOW DID ALCATEL GRAB EVERYTHING AND WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO
TI AND MOTOROLA???

We rely on you because we get no news from Westell. For that matter the same is true for the great TI and Motorola! They have released news about the availability of their TI/Amati ADSL or Mot/CG but then why aren't they being implemented? Without some meaningful information on where they are, investing in Westell is ambiguous at best. Westell is not in a position to keep on reinventing itself. Developing interoperability is costly R&D and without firm contracts it becomes a money losing proposition. Something Westell can ill afford.

Thanks for your informative posts, and I think your input on this matter would be welcomed.

Michael
