"S&P PowerPicks Portfolio '99 Off to Roaring Start"

The S&P PowerPicks '99 Portfolio topped the S&P 500 for the month of
January, returning 7.0% versus the index's 4.1% rise. The equity
market's pronounced rotation toward technology, cable and broadcasting
stocks boosted PowerPicks' performance for the month. The Portfolio's
biggest gainers were Applied Materials (Nasdaq: AMAT, +48%), Cablevision Systems (NYSE: CVC, +34%), and EMC Corp. (NYSE:EMC, +28%). During the month, 17 stocks beat the "500," while only nine did not. PowerPicks represents the best stock ideas from each of the 26 industry analysts of S&P's Equity Research staff for the coming year.
