Do you know what the issue price was? IE. how much would you get if they were forceably redeemed?

It would be to the company's benefit to redeem them as the dividends drag down the earnings.

If you can convert to four shares, wouldn't it make sense to buy one preferred at $2.80 and convert it into four common at $1.00 each? You lose the dividend, but make a quick $1.20.
