re: A "New York Times" editorial calls Mr. Starr "a narcissistic legal crank." The Times editorial said "once the Senate started the second impeachment trial in American history, that was Mr. Starr's cue not only to shut up but to stop..."

For heaven sakes, doesn't the New York Times have any decency. This is not Mr. Star's fault. This is Mr. Clinton's fault. Clinton has played this game of "Don't tell" all his life. When he gets caught he trashes the women. His supporters were ready to say Lewinski stalked him and is an unstable person. With P. Jones they called her claims trailer trash. With Jennifer Flowers he said it was tabloid trash. On and on and on. He was finally held accountable. I'm glad Mr. Star didn't play the good ol' boys game and let Mr. Clinton off with a laugh and a pat on the back.

Mr. Star was given evidence of perjury and obstruction of justice (he didn't seek this evidence it was given to him by L. Tripp). He simply turned it over to Janet Reno, Reno found it credible and petitioned a court. A court found it credible and serious and authorized Reno to investigate. Reno asked Mr. Star to investigate it.

Star has been professional and thorough. I do have trouble with the questions that were asked of Ms. Lewinski and Mr. Clinton, but in a twist of irony, do you know why those questions were allowed? You guessed it, because President Clinton passed sexual harassment laws that made a man's sexual history relevant even when it is consensual.

I am not a Clinton-hater, there are some good qualities about him, but it is time for his supporters, his friends and the New York Times to quit blaming Star and start blaming Clinton for this mess.

Sorry for ranting commentary. I will try to stay on topic. ;-)

Dale

Dear Mephisto: I basically concur with Dale J's response to you. Also, I cant let you off the hook on one statement. Clinton is NOT like most other men. He is basically a cowardly SNEAK who I think probably because of his family background has serious shortcomings. He lacks any known convictions, merely parroting back what you want to hear. Thats all I have to say about the man. He is a disgrace to the United States. JDN
