And anybody that invests on the basis of revenues is throwing his money away. I'm reminded of the old joke where a merchant is trying to sell his good to a customer, and claims he is losing money on each item he sells. When the customer asks how the merchant stays in business, the merchant replies that he makes it up in volume.

Look at AMZN's cash flow and you will see a very interesting thing. It is generating a negative operating cash flow. The only thing that is providing cash flow is the sale of stock. Now perhaps there are people out there that think that cash flow or economic profit isn't relevant, but I'm not one of them.

if i had 1$ for every time stock beat earnings expectations but got clobbered because revenues weren't up to snuff we'd all be millionaires. fornunately that won't be problem 2/16
