Greg, I'm not too clear on what you mean by that. Software Management of the SAN/WAN occurs at the Application Layer, communicating with devices via agents through transport layer protocols (NDMP & SNMP), if that's what you meant. I can see the day where something like CA Unicenter or IBM Tivoli can eventually effect centralized management of both networks. Until then the first iterations of SAN management software will likely be storage-centric.
