Sadly, I think there IS a vast left-wing conspiracy. All the elements might not be connected and they might not caucus but they're all the same nevertheless. They're the kind of people who want to put warning labels on fur coats, stop the Iditarod dog race because they think it's cruel to the dogs (the dogs don't agree), make kids wear uniforms to school, put labels on crimes to make them worse (like "hate" crimes, as if it were really worse to murder a homosexual than it is to murder someone else), destroy the right to keep and bear arms, ANYTHING, in fact, that doesn't meet the way they see the world. They just don't understand that every wrong they attempt to fix is at the cost of just one more chip of freedom. They'll keep on going until the particular chip that gets removed is theirs. They just don't get it.
