tom,

Further to my last; your timing on WDC may turn out impeccable. I notice there is persistent reports of an Oppenheimer upgrade to strong buy on WDC. Further I am expecting a pop in the sector this week. The Morgan tech forum will likely get some attention back to the battered group and fundamentally, little has changed since earnings reports. I am not proactive on WDC any longer. Latest stop is at 13.50 and if it breaks it breaks. Either way it has been a fortunate call for me.

There has been a good deal of speculation that there is a market correction brewing. The hottest reports discuss a repatriation of investments by Japanese concerns, especially banks who need to shore up assets/loan ratios etc. I don't see it but it is a realm of seer craft beyond my very human ken and cogitation. <G> Friday's employment report may cause some hiccups in early going Monday morning as some investors may get Fed jitters again. But I do not think the Fed is going to raise rates and chance precipitating a market tank. The actual employment rate is basically unchanged (though at a historical high). I think the fed is quite content to let the dollar ride the waves with respect to Japan. Speaking of which, Japan crash or softened landing is a large looming question.

Sorry to get "macro" on you but it is where my head is at this early Monday a.m. in beautiful downtown Singapore.
Best,
Stitch

"I am eyeballing Maxtor's secondary."

Hi Stich,

I swapped some pleasent messages with you on the PC discussion thread a week or two back. As we briefly discussed, I'm quite bullish on MXTR from an FA perspective. Have no idea if we've reached the bottom today short-term, but I think the post-earnings correction was way overdone. Glad to hear that as of today, you're on board.

Was curious about what you meant RE the above. Were you waiting to see how it was recieved, or wanting to buy some of the secondary shares, or something else?

FWIW, I think that MXTR's recent focus and execution on the desktop drive market has been exceptional. The evidence (mostly anecdotal) I've seen suggests that their reputation for quality and speed among enthusiasts has soared in the past year (rightfully, in my view.) They've been quickest to market with the largest platter sizes and latest technologies, and are taking lots of market share in both the retail and the all-important OEM channels.

For an interesting look at how WDC's latest desktop offering fails to live up to its claim of surpassing maxtor, see www.storagereview.com.

Would welcome discussion/comments from all. I like MXTR, but am a relatively new investor to this sector.
