Courier V. Everything

I really like the modem..wish I had one. I think I will get one and use it in lieu of the Diamond modem I picked up.

I helped one of my wife's friends buy an overclocked ASUS P2B 300A dual drive system from Minotaur. We included the Courier V Everything modem. I am not sure what is going on. We selected the 56 Kflex connection for the local MSN ISP connection. The modem says it is connected at 115K!? It must be confused. I thought 56- was the max speed over a standard phone line.

Never the less it did seem very snappy the short time I used it.

The computer arrived from Minotaur showing some traveling stress. Nothing worked when it arrived. Just a strange noise on boot and nothing on the screen. I decided to take a look as I got her into the mess. I was surprised that I was able to get it working. After reseating the video card..must have worked its way loose..I was able to see video on the screen. Still would not boot. Only a strange noise. I pulled the plug on both harddrives and the noise went away. I plugged them in one at a time and determined one was DOA. With the one working drive the machine now works.

The failed drive was mounted in the bottom of the harddrive cage. The screws were snug but not all the way in. The harddrive therefore was loose in the mount and bounced on the frame for 3000 miles..that is my best guess why the harddrive was not working.

I have a couple of errands and will most likely not be able to post for several days.

I am still waiting on the 8.4 gig harddrive. I need the drive before I move forward on the multidrive NT machine that will be configured similar to yours. The KOT drive will be a full Win95 install on a 17 gig drive. In addition to the 8.4 NT drive and the 17 gig KOT Win95 drive I will have a 17 gig ROMO and a 2 gig SCSI transfer drive...my best current guess.

Antec removables are OK IMO for drives that do not run hot...especially if you consider the price. I like the DataPort removable frames and cartridges better..I feel more comfortable with the better cooling capability. I will know better after I install and experiment with ROMO's.
