Hi Zeuspaul,

Just a quick note about that Courier V. Everything modem.

I've been working with one at work for a bit, and they're quite nice! Have no problem recommending them even with the extra cost.

The 115K is not that rare. Depending on the ISP, and the modem/setup, I've gotten 44,000 on a 28.8, 118,000 on a 56k v.90 Sportster before. Not that you'll actually download at that speed though <g>

We included the Courier V Everything modem.

I think I mentioned I had to RMA my Courier because it had a hi-pitched squeak when accessing. The replacement is stone quiet. Seems stable enough...I connect always at 49,300 bps..I think the highest possible 56k v.90 speed is like 51 or 53k because of some FCC rule.. I don't know what that 115k is about.. thats not even possible with duel anolog modems. Thats a very neat trick<g> weird data output though..

The computer arrived from Minotaur showing some traveling stress.

Thats unfortunate..Jon would probably want to be appraised of the situation. Maybe he has some new help that needs to be brought up to speed. I know customer satisfaction is a very high priority to him.. at least that was the case three months ago... glad you were able to isolate the bad drive though. THAT drive must have been good when it left Virginia, since Jon burns his machines in. Fed Ex must have really thrown the thing around enough to loosen mounting screws and shake up the drive enough for it to fail.

forward on the multidrive NT machine that will be configured similar to yours.

Our setups will be almost identical except for my w98nt0 KOT. After further discussion with the guy from Storage Review board I've also decided to go with 3 DataPorts...ie 2 IDE for the 17g Maxtors and 1 SCSi for a non-trading/screwing around drive since my IDE slots are full. I 'm thinking about a 2-4 gig Quantum Viking. I wanted to purchase the whole affair this weekend but my new dentist needed some extra cash to send his son to Dartmouth so.. well.. my mouth may be healthier but my checking account needs work now before I can buy 3 more drives and removable kits.<g>
