The next big event is the "PMA 99" show beginning the evening of February 17th in Las Vegas. It's all about digital imaging and everything connected to it. Lots of new product announcements and plans.

Digital camera, scanners, printers, batteries, memory devices...that sort of thing. All the big names will be there. I don't know how much of the investment community will be there, but since most of the big producers will be there announcing new products, I would guess that investors will be watching. I would expect there to be several press releases by these companies during this time.

Aus - -

How good to have you back.

Now I must say that I was really dissapointed that the Rio Diamond uses SM. Worse still the "Kobe Steel" player also appears to use SM. The Kobe Steel device is interesting becuase it uses TwinVC or .VQF files which are much better that .mp3 files!!! I have heard the Rio and it sounded great but pls don't tell anyone till they come to their senses and start using CF.

So we now have:-

.mp3
.vqf

as platforms

and

Rio Diamond
MP-Man
Solid Audio
Pontis

As players either on the market now or soon to be on the market.

Aus this is the music business and it is driven by kids. Yes these smelly rude noisy little creeps have finally become useful and are about to benefit the world and SNDK because they will go nuts about these devices. Nothing on this planet matches the buying power of the massed ranks of spoilt brats. ( of course we were never like that as kids)

Bye bye CDs and Mini disks and cassettes solid state is here and they know it.

My beliefs were more than vindicated the other day when I mentioned solid state audio to one of my friends who is very sardonic about the market and SNDK. Don't worry about his market views they were caused by a nasty experience a few years ago but when I mentioned .mp3 ( he knows of the technology generically by the name .mp3) he suddenly light up like a Christmas tree because his son had been going on about it to him and nagging him to get him one.

G-d bless the little monster and all his pals in his class and in all classes across the country and the world as they go and nag their parents to get them .mp3 players TODAY, NOW. They must be given them in fact it should be treated as an offence if kids are not all provided with an .mp3 player by say the end of April, 1999 provided of course that it uses CF.

I have said for some time on this thread that I thought that D-Cameras were great but were not going to take SNDK into the stratosphere.... MP3 stuff will do that all by itself.

Regards,

L
