Merritt,
Strictly technically speaking, we may not fit the EXACT definition of an "imperialist country" like England once was, but in these more modern times, we are close enough for "horseshoes" in my opinion. Arrogance with a willingness to use force for any convenient reason to bully other countries into submission is close enough for me!
Not only that, but look at what our Hollywood and musical culture is doing to influence the youth of other countries, and you will see that some forms of "imperialism" are not brought forth by the use of guns. Take the youth of Japan for example. Ever since we won WWII, they have copied our latest fads and trends, and this was once a positive, but now it is dragging them down to our low level, with increases in crime and juvenile delinquency, etc. This is one reason why they will probably never be as great as they once were, one respect and hard work was the ongoing theme. Merritt,
Oh, and I forgot to add to my previous note, that I do not like what China is doing to Tibet, and think they are wrong to continuously interfere with those very religious people. Yogi
