You are lucky! When I switched to a 56K modem on a new phone line, Pacific Bell couldn't deliver more than 22K. I got a cable modem three months later.

Have you flashed your modem?Meaning, upgraded to V90 standard.Check to see if Bell South has V90 compliant servers,if not,higher speeds may not be possible.A separate(dedicated) phone line to your computer may help.
