February 11, 1999 Showcases DAB System to Singapore Consortium UNIQUE BROADBAND SYSTEMS INC ("UBS-V;UBSBF-L") - Showcases DAB System to Singapore Consortium Stephen J. Rosen, Chief Financial Officer of Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. announces that the Company was chosen to supply a complete Digital Audio Broadcast system to Andrew Corporation to be used in the test and evaluation of Andrew's new Radiating Waveguide. The testing was jointly conducted by Unique and Andrew in Dallas, Texas, for Singapore based companies NEC Systems Integration and Construction, Singapore Land Transport Authority and Intrawave. Unique Broadband Systems supplied a complete DAB system including the COFDM Modulator, Ensemble Multiplexer and Source Encoder. The main focus of the demonstration was to test the attenuation of the new waveguide from Andrew, but this process also allowed Unique Broadband Systems to showcase its DAB system to the Singapore consortium. Unique Broadband Systems supplied the equipment for the transmission source of the first defined electrical system testing performed on the waveguide. The on site test procedure involved injecting a DAB signal from the Unique Broadband Systems equipment into the radiating waveguide within the 400 foot test chamber. A DAB receiver was placed on a mobile cart and sent into the test chamber. By increasing the attenuation into the waveguide a determination was made on the maximum length of cable which would allow the DAB system to continue to function within the underground environment.
