I was looking at the new Asus P2B-F and Abit BX6-2 motherboards last week since both have been highly regarded, and it looks like the BX6-2 still stands-out in overclocking features. I decided to join the overclocking club since there seem to be a bunch of 300a's still available (Only 75% of the OEM parts being shipped are still overclockable at 450MHz according to compucheap.com)

So on Friday I ordered a combo from PCNUT, I called and left a message on the answering machine and sent in the website order... Humphrey called me back an hour later to answer a couple of questions I sent: YES I could get it by this Friday and YES I could get the MB+CPU+RAM burned in as a package --it should be shipped today or tomorrow.

Combo B3: Abit BH6, C300a @450MHz, 128MB Viking/Samsung ECC RAM -- $504
add Option BX2: upgrade to the new BX6-2 motherboard (+$20)
add Option HP: to pre-test the cpu for overclocking (+$20)
I asked Humphery to burn them in as a package (+$10) so I can avoid DOA products -cheaper than shipping items back and forth.

(The B3 combo w/ECC RAM was $40 more than non ECC, but I figure it will likely save me that much in troubleshooting aggravation over the life of the strip just to avoid a defect in the single module.)
