*Triple Mode Phones and Weblooms[TM]* They've gone mad! Subscribers don't want multimode multiband phones. They just want a cheap thing which works everywhere. That means WWeb with cdmaOne backward compatibility or WWeb overlaid on GSM or TDMA, with a Globalstar option for in the bush or on the ocean. Or where basestation Babe is busy because nobody told her how to handle a big crowd! A multimode handset will cost too much. Well, they'll sell some, but it is a silly idea compared with lingua franca handsets = WWeb/cdmaOne/Globalstar. GSM/Globalstar will have a place too. Analogue can die. TDMA can ... well, do what they like...give up I'd say. Meanwhile, Bill Frezza writes some good articles:internetwk.com In this one, Bill is on my favourite topic, though he didn't quite identify it - collecting 10 cents in a Webloom which is a bloom in the Web as people send stuff around to friends etc and it propagates like a nuclear reaction as each sends it on to three others. Each time somebody wants to see it, they click "OK" on the price button which enables decryption and sends an encrypted dime, dollar or whatever the price is, to the right Qualcomm managed account. This is cybermoney based on Eudora. I notice Bill uses Eudora! He wondered how the system could work. Don't tell him anyone!!! WirelessKnowledge might have a role in Webloom[TM] developments but it would be better if the Eudora gang could pin it down for Q! shareholders only. A Webloom would expand, like a virus, provided it had sufficient vectors of transmission. The success of it would depend on how many 'neutrons' it throws off every time it hits a new viewer. A really great picture, writing or whatever would be really popular and would be sent on average to 10 people by each person and everyone in the world would pay a dime within a few days. A dull one would circulate among a few weirdo friends who like seeing iguanas eat hagfish. More articles here by Frezza. I like them!internetwk.com Mqurice PS: A shame about the down market and lack of Globalstar reaction to the launch. That quietened everyone down...
