If you really mean directories, I have no comment.
Or at least none I'm willing to make.

If you mean partitions, that's not true. Separate
directories are all you need.

You might have to make a decision about where applications
would install for apps that aren't aware they might
be installed twice. PM is not one of these, however.

zp..you genius you:-)

It is a good idea to put NT and Win98 in separate directories.

I let nt0 go where it wanted to do. Actually I mis-spoke. nt0 is C:\winnt0 and w98 is C:\windows. So they are in separate directories. I was confused with the fact that the PM folder incloses both w98 and nt versions of PM.

But the good news is I ran the updater again without changing a thing and.. bam... more congradulations..it worked. Maybe someting clicked while restarting w98..weird.. I must have run that updater 4 or 5 times last nite the same way (or so I'm telling myself<g>

just a guess but worth a try...any other virus checker as well.

More good news.. I turned off a virus alarm in BIOS... went to DI..opened it..and no blank dialog where it had been appearing as recently as over the weekend.

'Just a guess' my foot...that was an amazing call!! Why did you suspect the virus checker in mobo? If I may ask.

BTW I also have Mcafee Virus scan running, which doesn't seem to be causing the problem. So i feel ok about leaving that mobo checker off.

Thanks zp
