Steve,

You think you had a bad day? How many people here have been fired by their broker? Well, today I was.

I've been daytrading with Fidelity Spartan for 6 months (with many more years of Fidelity investing before that). It has worked well: I've made a little money and Fido has made lots of commissions.

Problem is that I've been working with a live trader, for 1 or 2 hours at a time. Apparently that is a "no no" with Fido, for today they called me to say that I should find another broker.

It didn't matter to Fido that my commissions will total over $80,000 in 1999. It didn't matter to Fido that I can move some very sizeable accounts away from the company. Fidelity simply determined that I wasn't "profitable," so it told me to leave. (Well, I can stay and try to trade with Fox+, but that doesn't suit my trading style at all.)

I've been so loyal to Fido for so long, but in the end it didn't matter one iota.

Now I'm looking for another broker. Maybe Yamner (though I'd like some references I can check). Maybe an online outfit like MBT or ABWatley. I don't know now, and I'm too upset to think about it.

How is the trouble? Did it get cleared up or is there still a problem. I just sent in my application before reading your message and I'm a bit concerned.
