AT&T CEO says cable network to be open to others.

But notice the significant statement down below in the story: 'Still, the chief executive acknowledged it will be "four to five years before AT&T's investments with the cable companies can have their full effect on consumer choice."'

That's a long time to wait for AOL and other providers. AT&T is fighting with local regulators on the West Coast who want them to provide immediate access to other providers. (The politicians are mostly interested in getting it for their local ISP companies, but AOL could ride their coattails.) Last I read, AT&T is still resisting that. This statement sounds a bit like a way to try to deflect the pressure which would give AT&T@home and their other bundled services a chance to become more entrenched.
