(Nasdaq:ODIS - news), the leading provider of object data-management solutions for Java-, XML- and C++-based applications, today announced that its fourth-quarter 1998 financial results were driven by sales of the company's ObjectStore® database management system to numerous high-profile companies.

''Companies are adopting ObjectStore because it is the best object data-management solution for today's high-performance software applications in areas such as Web publishing, Internet e-commerce, network management, and as an embedded database in packaged-software applications,'' said Object Design President and CEO Justin Perreault. Object Design also enjoyed sales success in its key telecommunications and packaged-software markets during the quarter. Cognos and Interleaf were among the packaged-software companies that purchased Object Design's products and services during the quarter, as did well known organizations such as Boeing, Jeppesen, Primerica Financial Services and Putnam Investments.

''These customers are indicative of the growing need in the marketplace for Object Design's high-performance object data-management solutions, particularly for powering new Java- and XML-based Internet applications,'' Perreault said.
