If you constrict yourself to voting along party lines rather than voting for individuals that align with your beliefs it further enables the partisan politicking.

I've thought a great deal about this issue. I used to believe that it was wise to vote the individual and not mindlessly vote party line. But over the years, I have come to realize that the parties actually reflect on the whole an underlying philosophy of life and politics.

I have found that many, if not most conservatives are conservative not just in politics, but in the way they live their lives. They believe in responsibility and accountability and they bring their children up based on those beliefs. No getting away with things just because they are so lovable. They teach (as I do) their children to respect others and when they don't, they are taught that there are consequences for their actions. So they take away a privilege, or ground them or some other form of discipline. I have found that most liberals are easier on their children, they view them as equals and they are much more forgiving to their children and they generally are not as strict when it comes to behavior problems. This mixed message and inconsistency, to me causes young people to disrespect authority, not to stay within boundaries regarding their behavior, and leads to a hippie mentality, i.e. you do your thing, I'll do mine and never the twain shall meet, can you dig it?

I could go on with other examples but I won't. So, I have found that liberal folks tend to be drawn to the dem party, they think they are compassionate and they want to help others, but they never insist on personal responsibility and accountability; instead, they support the notion of, in the minds of the affected, victimhood. Liberals tend to like being the knight in white armour with their encouragement and facilitation of victimhood. They do this while making someone the evildoer, you guessed it, right-wing conservatives. Enough for now.

So, to stay on your point and message, most of the liberal/dem politicians that I have either met or have listened to, generally say much of the same things, i.e., government should be more involved in righting all those wrongs created by heartless conservatives. They really don't offer a way out for the "victims". Heck, if they should teach someone how to get on in life on their own without the help of the compassionate dems, then those dems would be out of a job. This is extreme selfishness in my view and it is also very condescending because they think those people couldn't make it without their help. On the other hand, most of the republicans I talk with or listen to have in my view immensely more genuine,(not misplaced) compassion for others. They give more money to help people, they require something in exchange for their help (the recipient to be responsible), they require those in need to set goals and objectives and follow-up on them to assure they are being weaned off the big tit of government and others. In general, they instill in these people sense of gratitude for what others are doing versus a sense that they have a right to take from others, a sense of a symbiotic rather than a parasitic relationship between the "victim" and the helper. When this kind of personal charity occurs, people in need become happier and they make meaningful contributions to society and they are grateful for what others are doing. Contrast that with the typical welfare mother who goes on the Jerry Springer show who continues to have babies and when questioned about that decision and when asked if she feels guilty for taking from taxpayers, she starts cussing and saying she is entitled to it. This is what liberalism and so called compassionate big government has brought society - a big, impersonal tit that never fosters eventual self reliance. That's why I think most republican politicians are far superior to dems because they generally agree that people should get off welfare and policies should be directed toward that end. Again, this is just one issue, but down the line on any issue, the same philosophy of repubs vs dems can be understood. There is something inherent to basic views and philosophies of each party and this is generally what dictates specific policies of the government.

That is why I can vote straight ticket and can say that there is a very good probability that my philosophy will carried out by voting republican. The current crop however may share the views, but don't have the intestinal fortitude to do what is right.
