Here is another example of unfounded inference. The inference is that if guns were not confiscated in Germany Hitler would not have ascended to power. But then you have problems explaining how Hitler co-opted the Wehrmacht, or literally annihilated the SA (which was heavily armed) in one day.

The notion that a citizenry armed with hunting rifles and handguns is a match for a well-trained army is nonsense.

Hitler ascended to power because the Allies refused to stop him. There were many occasions when this could have been done.
