Steve glad to see you on this thread. Am a new subscriber to your newsletter. Bought CMGI, ETRADE AND MSPG after the first of the year for kids college funds. CMGI has already paid for another year of college. thanks for your picks of 99, great insight.

Question: how does mindspring and earthlink fit into the future isp picture with the cable companies - and faster speeds - now jumping into the action. Plus, can they compete with the big boys - AT&T rated highly by PC World as an ISP. Can they survive? Will ISP's go thru a consolidation/marriage with bigger partners like the portals?

Thanks in advance for your insight?

Greg

Hi Steve,
I am of the opinion that one of the reasons that the internet stocks have been able to fly so high is that the internet users are currently operating on a blank check. By this I mean that there is no usage based billing from the service providers and the government has chosen to have a hands off policy toward tariffing (for now).

My guess is that until we see these two things, we will still have some level of mania with the internet stocks. Of course market conditions can kill the mania for short periods as well.

Off base or?????

Question About The Recent Pullback:

Steve,

Although you predicted a 20-30% drop in the internet stocks late last year, I was wondering how we can accurately (or reasonably accurately) predict these massive pullbacks.

Here's my main problem: At first, a pullback looks like ordinary profit taking. An 8-10% drop in one day is nothing out of the ordinary. But by the time the drop is an actual correction is too late. The stock has almost always corrected.

For example, I am a shareholder of this beloved little company that lets me talk to you -- GNET. I bought it at 50 (a few days following your recommendation) and held it all the way until Tuesday. Before then it was holding strong at 114. I sold at 101 and watched it dip as low as 78 and close at around 88. Thursday, I saw the internets shoot up and guess where I bought GNET again? 101.

For many of us, once we see the bottom fall out, we lose our bearing and think, "If it can hit 78 it can hit 68 just a fast". But Internet Stocks correct and rebound in a matter of days and by the time it's "safe" to get back in, it's just too late.

Do I need to be more agressive and sell on the first signs of weakness and determine my buy-in point simply by saying "hey it's 20 points below what I sold it at" -- or is this just a lesson to hold tight and ride it out?

Thank you,
Sgt. Stockpile

Steve,
If you have time, what are your thoughts on Net Taxi? (NTXY) I like where they are heading with family orientation, could it be another XOOM or TGLO.
Thanks,
Garry

STEVE, XMAS CRAZE IS COMING TO TOWN
Which internet retailstocks do you see as the likely big winners this holiday season. I had great success with EGGS last year and is ready to load up again, but would like to diversify my portfolio to 4 or 5 different Etailers...
Thanks for your time, your knowledge and your insight.
And Oh Yeah, let me be the first to wish you a Merry $$$$-XMAS now I'm at it :-)
